When I was a young girl, I snuck into my brother’s room and took a peek at his naughty magazines that he had hidden under his mattress. One magazine was a Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog. The all-time favorite (according to four Frederick’s shoppers) is the very utilitarian, white, heavy duty, wide strap brassiere. This revelation was absolutely amazing to me. Where was lacy, black, push-up bra on this list of favorites? Nowhere: my favorite lacy bra did not make the list. No wonder they say that men are from Mars and women are from Venus. I never fantasized about a big, white, over-the-shoulder boulder holder, just something pink, frilly, and with lots of lace.
